Description

:star:NOW BELONGS TO =War-Chant:star:

This was bound to happen, I love Dia de los Muertos (who doesn't?)! I know the concept of a skull horse has been done a million + 1 times over, but I had to do this. I've seen some Day of the Dead-like horses out there, but I wanted one for myself. I hope she's unique in some respects. I'm very pleased with how she turned out, and I think she exudes the holiday well :) I have some breeding plans for her. I've missed HARPG!

"The word calavera (Spanish for "skull") can refer to a number of cultural phenomena associated with the Mexican celebration of the Day of the Dead and the Roman Catholic holiday All Souls Day. Calavera can refer to any artistic representations of skulls."
-Wikipedia

:bulletpink:Name: Calavera (pronounced kalaˈβeɾa), stable name Dia
:bulletblack:Gender: Mare (F)
:bulletpurple: Bloodline: None- Starter
:bulletblue:Breed: Azteca
:bulletgreen:Height: 13.8 HH (a little under average)
:bulletorange:Personality: Subdued, Watchful, Patient, Calm, Wary
:bulletred: Discipline: Halter, Cart, Pleasure
:bulletwhite:Passable Traits: Colored tail, sugar skull mask, skeletal markings, marked joints, "pupil-less" eyes (her eyes are a greenish gray- her pupils are almost the exact color of her irises, just a tad darker, and this is only visible in the right light)

Her skeletal mask will most effectively be passed onto solid coats (so no skeletal roans, appaloosas, etc.), but Aztecas carry the pinto gene, so the skeletal mask and markings can show up in a pinto. Pintos may display a mask (though rare and less ornate) and most likely will not have as many decorative colors (they can still display a colored tail, however). Depending on breeding, only light-colored offspring (such as whites, grays, cremellos, perlinos, etc.) can display black skeletal markings and masks. Traits will be most strongly dominant in blacks and grays. She carries the colored tail gene- even though hers is pink, not all of her offspring will display pink tails. For example, if the stud has blue coloring, the foal could be born with a blue tail. A foal may show a completely different tail color that's recessive or not present between the two parents depending on the past gene pool. Bi- and tricolor tails are uncommon, but not rare. ***Otherwordly/colorful/unnatural breeds can cross markings (as to avoid too much confusion) to create a blended foal.
